Review
We now complete the trifecta of the bread-and-butter loops of Phipps Park with the Cashin Loop. To an astute viewer, you may just say, “this just looks like the Lake and Morning Loops combined together,” while you dance around in glee at your momentous discovery. Well, to you astute viewer, I agree; this loop does seem like a mixing of the Lake and Morning Loops. However, to me, and to other cross-country runners, this loop differs from the aforementioned two.
For starters, the Cashin Loop is a whopping 3.8 miles. Running the Cashin Loop is a different experience than the Lake or Morning Loops. While the Lake Loop is notable for its directness and elevation, and the Morning Loop for its laid-back nature, the Cashin Loop is its own hybrid: a long, slightly elevated, and clean loop that will carry the brunt of distance for any route you choose to take.
The Cashin Loop inherits the characteristics of the Lake and Morning Loop in that it consists of very well-maintained gravel trails, making it easy to run and hard to not follow. Running the Cashin Loop really makes long distances easily go by, mile after mile ticking away, as you advance down this lengthy loop.
