Now you can get water in the middle of your 9-mile run. (Or at least close enough to the middle.) This route feels like an inferior little brother to doing 5 and 5. If you are hitting this route, you might have just wanted to do a 5 and 5 but realized that you have to do 9 miles instead. So now you are supplementing your urge with this route.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to run a route like 5 and 5. The only issue is that this route is just too similar to its better older brother. It contains no unique advantages to 5 and 5 others than the fact that it is 9 miles. I suppose the only advantage is that this method of doing 5 on the Phipps Park side is that there is far less elevation than the conventional Lake Loop.
All I can say is before you try this route, do a 5 and 5 first.
