Sometimes you just really want to run a Lake Loop. You crave the elevation and the Lake Hill like a moth drawn to a flame. When there is a will, there is a way, and I can assure you this is the way to do a Lake Loop while also doing a total of 6 miles.
The loop that aids you on your quest for 6 miles will add on one mile, so shockingly, this loop of aid is the Mile Loop. To alleviate this problem, you can enter the Mile Loop at one entrance connected to the Lake Loop, follow the Mile loop until you reach the part that connects to a different part of the Lake Loop slightly farther down the trail, and turn back onto the Lake Loop the way you were originally headed. What this means is that you will end up skipping some part of the Lake Loop, which must be devastating for you Lake Loop enthusiasts out there.
Fortunately for you pain craving Lake Loop fans, the Mile Loop circumnavigates the Sun Field, meaning that you will be treated to some pretty warm trails. In terms of difficulty, this makes the Lake + Mile considerably harder than a shortened Cashin for your 6 miles.
Nonetheless, this route is fairly similar to the Shortened Cashin in terms of unique trails that you will encounter and is more or less a longer version of the Lake Loop in essence.
