Routes, as that term is used on this website, refers to a specified course of trails. There are two general types of routes discussed in this guide: loops and connector trails. Each route included in this guide has its own set of unique qualities and covers different (albeit sometimes overlapping) locations throughout the parks.
A loop is a type of route that starts and ends at the same place. This is convenient because you are not retracing your steps along the course.
A connector trail is a type of route that has separate starting and ending points. They are paths that connect one trail to another, and are primarily used to access loops.
